Future Soccer star?
Last night I have never been kicked so much. I was kicked every 15-30 seconds for almost an hour. Jimmy felt kicks for only the second time now. They're usually so sporatic so it's hard to catch him or her in action. I finally went to sleep with him or her still going at it. Either the baby is going to play soccer or he was just redecorating the inside of my belly.

Well, just two more weeks to the half way point. The little one is kicking me as I type. They feel like light flicks to the stomach or any other internal organ he happens to hit. I've only felt the "butterflies" a couple of times but not in the last few days. I'm going to probably see the doctor during 20 weeks. Since I was laid off from my last job it's taking forever for the MediCal paperwork to get finished. I've never applied before but I'm assuming because of the high unemployment rate that the process is double the time it should be taking. I was assured that the paperwork should be finished this week and I will have my card in the mail next week. I hope everything is fine, I've only been able to guess since the last time I went to the doctor I was around 6 weeks. I hated before I could feel the baby move because I had no idea how the baby was growing. There was only slight piece of mind when I would watch the show "I Didn't Know I was Pregnant". It's a crazy show to watch. Mostly dumb women but still some scary births. But the ones they show never had any doctor care and delivered healthy babies so I am hoping that God is giving me the same consideration. Now that there is kicking and movement it gives me piece of mind that the little one still is in there and doing pretty good.
Since I'm home all day I'm adapting to stay-at-home-mommy mode. The house has never been cleaner! This is the first time in about 10 years that I haven't had a job to go to. Back then it was by choice but now it's because "what's the point?" When I was laid off Jimmy and discussed it and we agreed that it would be too difficult to find a job quickly but addionally we would both feel bad that in approximately 7 months that I would have to take leave or quit. So it was the best choice for us that I just stay at home until the baby is here. I was greatful at the time because I was in the full throws of morning sickness and needing afternoon naps that I knew no work would fit in with my body's new schedule. I still am greatful but I'm starting to feel board. I guess it's cabin fever? I don't have too many friends up here and the few I do work during the day so I'm stuck either commuting down the hill or finding new ways of entertaining myself - Which lately had been to read from cover-to-cover every baby pamplet and brochure I've ever received. Robin loaned me some non-baby-related books which she's been trying to get me to read for a year now and both were read before the week was up.
My big concerns lately are: Money, finally going to see the doctor, and getting started excercising. (I've been lazy and hadn't really started an excercise program yet so my goal this coming week is to start now that I found a pregnancy workout schedule online. I think it will give me the motivation that I need.) Funny enough is the excercising isn't because I feel I've gained too much weight. On the contrary, I feel like I should be bigger. On Babycenter.com a lot of moms have been posting their week-to-week photos and I feel I'm on the low end of belly bump sizes. I guess I'm going to have to wait till I see the doctor to know for sure.
My big acheivements are: I bought a maternity swimsuit. I figure if I'm going to be pregnant all summer then I want to be cute and comfortable. Making weekly meal plans on the $1 dry erase menu board I got at Target and shopping for just that week of meals, additionally cooking dinner at home every night. They might not be the healthiest meals but they're home cooked!

I know it's been forever since my last post. I've been feeling much better. The nausea actually stopped shortly after my last post, which is nice. My appetite has returned but now I can't eat more than a quarter of a plate before I'm stuffed. The baby seems to be taking up all kinds of room in there. Occasionally, I feel the belly stretching pains. Those are pretty bad sometimes. The other day I got up from the couch and I suppose I got up too fast because the pain in my stomach was painful enough that I started to blackout a bit. All of a sudden my vision started to tunnel. It was scary and only lasted for a few seconds. I sat back down immediately but I have to keep reminding myself to take things slower. Well, if I don't remind myself my body sure will.
I bought my first maternity clothes last week. A couple of tops and a pair of capris and shorts from Kohl's. They are all super cute and comfy. I don't plan on buying a lot of clothes but I don't know of too many people that still have their maternity wear and the stuff on Craig's list looks yucky. I do notice that I think it's time to upgrade the bras soon. I've already out grown one and the other is uncomfortable. Especially to sleep in. I don't normally wear bras to bed but they feel better lately if they've been wrangled in for the night. The next thing to buy is a bathing suit. It's time to upgrade to a one piece or a tankini. I'm not ashamed of my belly but I heard it's bad to sun the belly because the skin doesn't bounce back as well later.
Well the real reason for the post besides a quick update on my overall well being is.... I felt my first kicks! Yesterday I was vacuuming and my back started hurting so I sat on the couch to rest and suddenly I felt a "flick" on my lower belly, toward my left side. Then about 5 or 10 seconds later I felt it again! Same spot. I laid down on the couch to see if he/she would keep it up but that's all I've felt so far. Either way it's exciting.
FYI: It will probably be a few more weeks before we can find out the sex. I've heard the doctors usually do it at 20 weeks.

***WARNING: THE FOLLOWING BLOG IS ABOUT ME GETTING SICK & THROWING-UP***
READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!
This whole pregnancy thing has really thrown me. None of my friends ever told me any of the crazy things I am feeling. Well, I probably wouldn't have believed them anyways. I'm trying to be more verbal with whats going on to Jimmy too. Like last night I was trying to describe to him why my eating is such an event the last three weeks. He gets that some food are more appealing than others like carbs, cheese, fruit etc. and that sometimes I can tell by the smell if it's a "safe" food or not. But we had a talk last night about what I call the "flipping the switch". Last night Jimmy made carnitas and he wanted to know how I wanted them served. I said a carnitas quesadilla sounded good. He made me a beautiful quesadilla and even tried to whip up a homemade taco sauce for it (which didn't turn out well but I appreciate the effort). I got down to the last three bites of the quesadilla when the switch flipped and had to put it down. I had this overwhelming feeling that if I swallowed even one more bite that the food was going to come up. Unfortunately, this had become routine with my eating. I think it was last week that we were at McDonalds when while I was eating my ten piece nuggets that #6 gave me the same feeling. Jimmy saw my face and offered me the paper bag. I just had to get that nugget out of my mouth because if I swallowed it I would risk it and everything else to come back. About three weeks ago I made the mistake of not listening to this feeling. I made myself a bowl of chili which I thought would be good with the beans and meat, lots of protein. I didn't listen to myself and ate more than I should have. Jimmy and I then went to the grocery store shortly afterwards and we weren't in the store for 15 mins when I had a bad feeling. I was trying to overcome and fight the nausea. But Jimmy saw differently and grabbed a produce bag (we were in the produce section) led me to a corner of the store behind a bread rack and a trash can and told me when there was no one around. I'll stop right there and spare you the gory details, but I think Jimmy got me a second bag at one point. He even pulled some papertowels from a display nearby ripped open the package so I could clean myself up. He's been really suppotive of everything and a real sweetheart.

Pregnancy
A close friend of mine made a good point. I really need to blog about my adventures in pregnancy, as fun or truamatic as they are. So the next few months are gonna be filled with the good, the bad, the ugly of my pregnancy!
It's been forever, I know!
I'm sorry to anybody who reads this that I haven't written in a long while. We have some news - Jimmy and I are pregnant. Today I'm at 11 weeks. I'm due October 29th. Due just in time for Halloween. Which is fitting because this little one in being a little goblin in my stomach. I knew I was pregnant very early because I had symtoms right away. Today is really the first day that I haven't felt nauseated - knock on wood. Sorry to make this short but I'll eventually catch my blog up...... Just not today. :o)
Thanks Robin and Mike for a Fun Wii-kend!!
Jimmy and I are really sore today. We went to Robin and Mike's house Saturday night to hang out since we didn't get together on New Years. When we walked in Alyssa was playing a Disney princess game on the Wii and well, it wasn't long before we were addicted. Before we left the next afternoon Jimmy had reached pro level on Wii Sports Tennis and I was KO'd about 10 guys on the Wii Sports Boxing. Both of us are paying for it today because we are so sore in our arms and back. The system really gives you a workout without really even trying. Jimmy and I were already considering buying one before and now we are both really excited to get one. Now we have a huge problem - they're sold out - EVERYWHERE! Seriously. There is even a website called Wii Tracker to find stores where the Wii is in stock. They do have them available on Ebay but I don't really like buying high dollar stuff on Ebay. I think right now it's just ment to be that we're not supposed to get one just yet. But! If anybody sees them in stock please let me know, okay?
Update: I guess it was ment to be that we were supposed to get one. ;o) We are now on our way to our New Years resolution with our new Wii and Wii Fit.

It's time for 2009!
Happy New Years!!!!!
I wish for everbody to have a better year then 2008.

I think our only resolution for 2009 is to lose weight - I know, original, right?
We had a really fun time this New Years Eve with Jimmy's mom -Marie, Angelique (Peter's wife) and Peter (Jimmy's lifelong friend). On our way down to Jimmy's mom's house we picked up some take-out from our favorite Thai restaurant in Duarte. Then spent the rest of the night in our PJ's watching Dick Clark, drinking cheap wine, playing Yahtzee, and watching the boys play old school Street Fighter on Peter's PS2. It's sounds so basic but I must admit it probably rated in the top 10 New's Years stuff I've ever done. I've heard that you should do on New Year's Eve what you will do all year, well, I can't think of anything better to do than laugh a lot, spend time with my love Jimmy and spend time with family.

Mozy on Over..
Jimmy and I have been researching options for backing up our home computer since my newest project is to take all of our photos and our parents' photos and scan them on to our home computer. We've been researching different methods when I asked the IT guy at work and he suggested Mozy.com. He is starting to convert all his clients to this site and couldn't find a bad thing to say about them. The company I work for even uses them. It's about $60 a year for unlimited backup of music, movies, photos and documents- about the cost of an external drive. My complaints with external drives are- what if the drive crashes? What if the drive is stolen along with my computer? Mozy.com instead is an off-site backup using your Internet connection. They use a secure line and it runs in the background of your computer so you don't even have to remember to backup files. Mozy will do it automatically! If you buy a year then they give you a free month of service plus I found a coupon code online for 15% off (EBAY15) so the fee is now $3.85/month!!

When Damian Zikakis' laptop computer was stolen last May, he figured that was the last he would see of it. A thief had broken into the Birmingham (Mich.) offices of his employer, Boyden Executive Search. Zikakis promptly bought a new computer. He had subscribed to an automated computer backup service called Mozy, and he reconnected via his new laptop. That's when the Mozy service, which costs $5 per month for individuals, really paid off.
Zikakis noticed that some photographs and other files that weren't his were being saved by the backup system. He realized they belonged to the person who now had his original laptop. Doing a little sleuthing, he examined the photos. A teenage boy had posted images of himself mugging for the camera like an urban gangsta. A woman, who turned out to be the boy's mother, had stored a document on the laptop that included her name, address, and cell-phone number. With a little help from the police, Zikakis recovered his computer. "I'm a very happy Mozy customer," he says.
I just wish I had known about this site years ago when our original home computer was stolen!

Ouchy!
I don't consider myself a clumsy person but when I get hurt it seems I go all out! Friday, the first day back after it snowed, Jimmy drove me to work because he was worried about the road conditions -even though I only work 4 miles from home. I had just finished putting my stuff down at work and walked outside to get some pictures of our building covered in snow. As I'm walking across the street. Wham Bam! I slipped and fell on black ice in the road.
I managed to get myself up and even took a couple of pictures while I was just in agony from the back pain and my hand slightly bleeding from getting cut by the ice. I waited a few hours at work while I caught up from being out for two days, but after waiting all that time and the pain never eased up I finally had Jimmy pick me up and I went to Urgent Care.
It was nice to know I wasn't the only person to slip. Everybody at the doctors was there for the same reason. It was frustrating that it took 2 hours to be called in and then waiting for three hours in the doctors room to only see the doctor for 5 min and the nurse for 10 mins. I received a tetanus shot for my cut hand, a shot in my tush for pain (which only made it hurt worse!) and some band-aids for my hand.
They did take x-rays and even though the Doctor "didn't have time to review them" before I left from the hospital. I called later that night and thankfully nothing is broken.
I'm still hobbling around with a bit of pain when I bend down four days later and the cuts on my hand are mostly healed. I see the doctor again tomorrow for a check-up.
